I say moving, you say boxes.  But where are you getting them?

If you’re moving within the Boston area, consider renting plastic moving boxes from Box Save.  It’s more convenient and better for the environment.

If you’re looking for cardboard boxes, here are some top options:

U-Haul and Self-Storage centers have stacks of cardboard boxes and tape for sale.  It may take a few trips back and forth depending on your vehicle.

Full-service moving companies often sell boxes and can deliver them to you.  You can also hire movers to assemble boxes if they’re doing the packing.

Craigslist has listings for free or reduced-price boxes.  Common listings include descriptions such as “$500 worth of boxes for $200.”  These can be a good deal if you live close by and have a vehicle to make one or more trips to pick them up.

Liquor Stores and Warehouse Clubs may have extra packaging boxes they are willing to give away.  These are good if you need to move wine bottles.  And if they have a closed bottom, they can be used for smaller items.  Even if they have a top, we don’t recommend stacking anything on top of them as they can crush easily.
